Black Ops 6’s Challenge Tracker: A Blessing or a Curse?

So, the big news today is that the devs for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are working on a new feature to track challenges more effectively. As exciting as it sounds, I can’t help but wonder: is this a blessing or a curse?
On the one hand, it’s great that players will finally be able to see their challenge progress in real time without having to open a separate menu or constantly check external resources. The challenge tracker promises to make completing objectives a more straightforward experience. If you’re working on a weapon challenge, for example, you’ll know exactly how many more kills you need, making it easier to focus on completing tasks efficiently.
But on the other hand, could this make the game too focused on grinding? One of the things that I’ve enjoyed about previous COD titles is the sense of organic play. Sometimes, it’s nice to just jump into a game and enjoy it without obsessing over completing tasks. With this tracker constantly reminding us of challenges, it might lead to players feeling pressured to complete objectives rather than just enjoying the game.
Another concern I have is that this feature could make the game feel too predictable. If everyone is following the same challenge tracker, are we just going to see a bunch of players doing the same thing to complete objectives? I think part of the fun of COD is the unpredictability, and I’m worried this might make matches feel more formulaic.
What do you all think? Is this challenge tracker going to be a great addition, or will it take away from the fun and spontaneity of the game?
